About ME

于是,就有了chubby_leaf 这个账号。

Hey buddies! I’m Cheen, a mega foodie.
Welcome to my food gallery— where recipes, flavors, and foodie adventures come together in one cozy corner!

So where should I begin?
Maybe with why I started filming little snippets of my life on my phone and sharing them on social media.

After graduation, I worked in Singapore for many years. I loved my job—it filled me with endless passion. But because of that, for a very long time, my life was only about work. Weekends meant sleeping in, waking up to instant noodles in a tiny rented room, and rarely going out. Back then, I believed pouring all my energy into work was what a young person should do. That was the life I wanted. But when my body began showing signs of protest, I slowly realized: even if I love my career, should it really be the only thing in my life?

My camera was always used for work, my contact list filled with colleagues, my messages were all work-related too. Looking back at my social media, the last time I took a photo of myself—truly capturing my feelings and my life—was years ago. That’s when chubby_leaf was born.

I created the account to break free from my weekend cycle, to push myself to go out more, to record the side of me beyond work. Chubby_leaf, or “胖小叶,” even had English voiceovers. That was intentional—to make myself keep learning, even if it was just a few short sentences each time. The most magical part? After sticking with it for a while, I began to fall in love with the person I saw in those videos. That feeling was something no single photo could match. In front of the camera, I was sometimes silly, sometimes messy, sometimes funny—but always full of life. Looking back, those moments were unrepeatable, younger versions of me than the one watching the playback today. No matter from which perspective to view those clips—though honestly, the filming wasn’t that great (still isn’t, haha!)—each frame carries meaning and memories—it’s like my life’s biggest album.

“Ah Cheen” is my name, what everyone calls me, and later became another account. I started it because I felt my purpose in filming and sharing had shifted. Beyond recording and learning, I wanted to share more, especially for those who have supported me. Plus, I really love being creative and creating something new. And if I wanted to show a truer version of myself, to express my thoughts more closely, I needed to use my mother tongue. That was a little different from the original purpose of chubby_leaf, so “Ah Cheen” came to be. But looking back now, there was no need to differentiate and separate them into two accounts—because both are me, both are my life, both are Ah Cheen:D

I’ve always enjoyed eating meals I cook for myself, whether it’s something as simple as a fried egg, or a meal full of imperfections, and I believe you feel the same way too. Cooking isn’t just a hobby—it’s a way of loving yourself and your family. The recipes here may not be the most authentic, traditional, or impressive, but every ingredient and portion size is based on my taste and experience, and what I believe works best. Hopefully I’ll keep sharing, and hopefully you, my buddies behind the screen, will continue to enjoy this little cozy corner with this shared happiness.
